Weekly Healthy Topic: What I eat when I'm not at home

One of the habits I had to break when losing 100 lbs was the habit of always eating out. When I was at my heaviest weight, I was eating out 8-10x a week.

This included lunches out during work, drive-thru breakfasts, grabbing coffee & a "treat" at Starbucks. It was my norm, and it was keeping me obese!

After informing myself of what I was actually eating, and realizing that I was consuming massive amounts of refined sugar, unhealthy fried foods and not enough protein I knew I had to make a big change.

I started packing breakfasts and lunches to take to work. Later on I also starting making my coffee drinks at home. Not only did I start saving a significant amount of money, the weight began to fall off!

In addition to saving money and calories, I also grew my knowledge of how to cook and bake healthier options. I also began breaking the habit of eating out. Now, when I eat out I only do it 1-2x a week and when I do, I find a healthier option.

Fit & Fresh Lunch Tote

I found this lunch tote at Target - isn't it so cute?! It comes in several prints, as well as solid black. Best of all - it fits all of my meal prep containers and still has room to stow a coffee mug as well. I love it!

Nespresso Virtuo Coffee & Espresso Maker

I received my Nespresso as a Christmas gift a few years ago, and fell in love the moment I used it! The coffee is amazing and I love having the option of making an espresso drink. It has saved me some serious money by not having to stop at Starbucks or Dunkin D's. It's my favorite appliance in my kitchen!

Ello Meal Prep Containers

Having good quality meal prep containers is a must when packing your breakfast or lunch. I love these containers from Ello - they're fantastic for salads, burrito bowls, breakfast scrambles and baked oatmeal with yogurt.
